The SC50×100 Standard Pneumatic Air Cylinder is a robust double-acting pneumatic actuator designed for industrial automation, conveyor systems, packaging machinery, production equipment and general pneumatic applications.

Featuring a 50 mm bore and 100 mm stroke, the SC50×100 provides strong, smooth and controlled linear movement using compressed air. The standard SC-series tie-rod construction combines a durable aluminium cylinder barrel, rigid end covers and high-strength tie rods for reliable operation in industrial environments.

The double-acting design uses compressed air for both extension and retraction, making the cylinder suitable for applications requiring controlled pushing, pulling, positioning, clamping and repetitive machine movement.

  • General pneumatic machinery

Double-Acting Operation

The SC50×100 uses compressed air to move the piston in both directions.

When compressed air is supplied to one port, the piston rod extends. When air is supplied to the opposite port, the rod retracts.

A suitable pneumatic directional control valve or solenoid valve can be used to control cylinder operation. Flow-control valves can also be fitted to regulate extension and retraction speed.

Theoretical Force

At approximately 0.5 MPa, the SC50×100 has a theoretical extension force of approximately 98.2 kgf.

Actual available working force may be lower due to:

  • Internal friction
  • Operating pressure variation
  • Piston rod area
  • Load alignment
  • Mechanical resistance
  • Installation conditions

For machine design, allow an appropriate safety factor rather than selecting a cylinder purely from theoretical force.

Installation Recommendations

For reliable operation:

  • Use clean and filtered compressed air.
  • Use pneumatic fittings and tubing rated for the operating pressure.
  • Ensure the cylinder is correctly aligned with the load.
  • Avoid excessive side loading on the piston rod.
  • Use suitable mounting brackets for the application.
  • Install flow-control valves where speed adjustment is required.
  • Check cylinder force requirements before installation.
  • Keep ports and pneumatic lines clean during assembly.

Important: Dimensions are based on the SC50×100 product and technical drawing supplied. Small dimensional or component variations may occur between manufacturing batches. Verify critical dimensions before fabrication, replacement or permanent machine installation.
