2. Eligibility for Change-of-Mind Returns
You may return an eligible physical product because you have changed your mind, provided that:
-
You contact us and lodge the return within 30 calendar days of receiving the product.
-
The product is new, unused, uninstalled, unmodified and in saleable condition.
-
The product is returned in its original packaging.
-
All accessories, components, manuals, certificates and documentation are included.
-
Any original seals, protective materials and labels remain intact where applicable.
-
You provide proof of purchase, such as an order confirmation, invoice or receipt.
-
The product is not identified as a change-of-mind return exception in this policy.
Products showing signs of use, installation, modification, damage, contamination or improper handling may not be accepted as change-of-mind returns.
3. Change-of-Mind Return Costs
Customers are responsible for arranging and paying the cost of returning a product because of a change of mind.
The original delivery charge is not refundable for a change-of-mind return unless required by law.
We do not charge a restocking fee for an approved return that meets all conditions of this policy.
The customer remains responsible for the product until it is delivered to RM Engineering and Automation. We recommend using a tracked and insured delivery service.
4. Change-of-Mind Return Exceptions
The following products and purchases are not eligible for a change-of-mind return:
-
Products manufactured, machined, fabricated, cut, assembled or modified to the customer’s specifications.
-
Custom-made or personalised products.
-
Special-order products sourced specifically for a customer.
-
Products that have been installed, used, programmed, modified or connected to machinery or electrical systems.
-
Software licence keys, downloadable software or digital products after delivery, activation or access.
-
Laser courses, training courses and course materials after access or commencement.
-
Engineering, programming, installation, repair, consultation or other services that have commenced or been completed.
-
Products damaged because of misuse, incorrect installation, neglect, accident, unauthorised repair or failure to follow supplied instructions.
These exceptions apply only to change-of-mind returns. They do not exclude any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law where a product or service is faulty, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or does not meet an applicable consumer guarantee.
5. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
Please contact us as soon as reasonably possible if a product:
-
Arrives damaged.
-
Is faulty or unsafe.
-
Is materially different from its description.
-
Is not the product ordered.
-
Is missing components or accessories.
-
Does not perform as represented or reasonably expected.
-
Is not suitable for a purpose that you made known to us before purchase and that we agreed it would be suitable for.
The standard 30-day change-of-mind return period does not limit any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
To help us assess the issue, we may request:
-
Your order or invoice number.
-
A description of the problem.
-
Photographs or videos showing the product and the problem.
-
Details of the product’s installation, application or operating conditions.
-
Serial numbers, model numbers or other identifying information.
-
The opportunity to inspect or test the product.
RM Engineering and Automation is entitled to assess the product before determining the appropriate remedy.
6. Remedies for Faulty Products
The remedy available will depend on the circumstances and whether the problem is major or minor under the Australian Consumer Law.
Where a product has a major problem, the customer may be entitled to choose between:
-
A replacement; or
-
A refund.
Where a product has a minor problem, RM Engineering and Automation may provide a repair within a reasonable period.
Where a minor problem cannot be repaired within a reasonable period, another remedy may be available, including a replacement or refund.
We may communicate with a manufacturer, supplier or authorised repairer when assessing or resolving a warranty claim. However, RM Engineering and Automation will remain the customer’s point of contact for products purchased directly from us.
7. Return Shipping for Faulty or Incorrect Products
For products that can be posted or easily returned, we may ask the customer to return the product for assessment.
If the product is confirmed to be faulty, damaged on delivery, incorrectly supplied or otherwise covered by an applicable consumer guarantee, RM Engineering and Automation will:
-
Provide a prepaid return method; or
-
Reimburse reasonable return shipping costs supported by a receipt.
Please retain all postage, courier and transport receipts.
For products that are large, heavy, installed or otherwise difficult to return, we will arrange collection or another reasonable assessment method where required.
If assessment confirms that the product does not have a fault and the issue was caused by misuse, incorrect installation, unauthorised modification or another matter outside our responsibility, the customer may be responsible for return, collection or inspection costs. Where applicable, we will provide a reasonable estimate before incurring those costs.
8. How to Request a Return

Please provide:
-
Your full name.
-
Your order or invoice number.
-
The product you wish to return.
-
The reason for the return.
-
Photographs or videos where the product is damaged, faulty or incorrect.
After reviewing the request, we will provide:
-
A Return Authorisation Number.
-
Return packaging instructions.
-
The applicable return address.
-
Any additional assessment or shipping instructions.
Returns sent without prior authorisation may take longer to identify and process.
9. Return Address
Approved returns should be sent to:
RM Engineering and Automation
39A Industrial Drive
Sunshine West VIC 3020
Australia
The Return Authorisation Number and order number should be clearly included with the returned product.
Please do not deliver a return in person without arranging an appointment in advance.
10. Packaging Returned Products
Products must be securely packaged to prevent damage during transport.
Where available, use:
-
The original product packaging.
-
Appropriate protective materials.
-
An outer shipping carton.
-
Tracked and insured delivery.
Damage caused during return transport because of inadequate packaging may affect the eligibility of a change-of-mind return.
Original packaging is not required for a return involving a faulty product where requiring that packaging would be inconsistent with the customer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law. However, the product should still be packaged safely for transport.
11. Refunds
Once an approved return is received and inspected:
-
We will notify you whether the return has been approved.
-
An approved refund will be issued to the original payment method.
-
We will initiate the refund within 5 business days.
-
Most refunds should appear within 10 calendar days after approval, depending on the customer’s bank, card provider or payment service.
For approved change-of-mind returns, the refund will generally cover the purchase price of the returned product. Original delivery charges and change-of-mind return shipping costs are not refundable unless required by law.
For faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied products, the refund will include any amounts required under the Australian Consumer Law.
We do not provide refunds by cash, store credit or another payment method unless the customer agrees to that method.
12. Declined Returns
A change-of-mind return may be declined where:
-
The return was lodged outside the 30-day return period.
-
The product has been used, installed, modified or damaged.
-
Components, accessories, packaging or documentation are missing.
-
The product is not in saleable condition.
-
The product is excluded from change-of-mind returns under this policy.
-
Proof of purchase cannot be provided.
If a return is declined after the product has been sent to us, we will notify the customer and arrange for the product to be returned at the customer’s expense.
This section does not limit any rights relating to faulty products or services under the Australian Consumer Law.
13. Exchanges
RM Engineering and Automation does not offer direct exchanges for change-of-mind returns.
To obtain a different product or model:
-
Return the original eligible product under this policy.
-
Place a new order for the required product.
New orders are subject to current pricing, stock availability and delivery charges.
A replacement provided as a remedy for a faulty or incorrectly supplied product is not considered a change-of-mind exchange.
14. Order Cancellations
Contact us immediately if you need to cancel an order.
An order may be cancelled for a full refund where it has not been dispatched and work on the order has not commenced.
Custom-made, machined, fabricated, cut-to-size, programmed or special-order products may not be cancelled after production, procurement or modification has commenced.
This section does not limit any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Manufacturer Warranties
Some products may include a manufacturer’s warranty.
A manufacturer’s warranty is provided in addition to any rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law. It does not replace or limit those rights.
Please contact RM Engineering and Automation for assistance with products purchased directly from us. We may coordinate assessment, repair or replacement with the relevant manufacturer or supplier.
16. Australian Consumer Law
Our products and services may come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any applicable statutory right or remedy.
Depending on the circumstances, customers may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, service cancellation or compensation where a product or service does not meet an applicable consumer guarantee.
